The Madeline Argy, Central Cee, and Ice Spice Drama, Explained
Thereâs a lot of drama going down concerning influencer Madeline Argy and rapper Central Ceeâand cheating/PR rumors about him and fellow rapper Ice Spice. Hereâs whatâs up.
On Friday, July 19, Central Cee and Ice Spice released a track called âDid It First,â the lyrics of which are centered around both performers cheating on their respective partnersâthe music video is also pretty provocative.
Pictures also surfaced of Central Cee and Ice Spice shopping together, and Ice Spice and Central Cee performed together at Londonâs Wireless Festival on July 12. Ice even published a picture of the two of them, along with some other snaps from her performance.
But Madeline, who previously dated Central Cee on and off since 2022, is sure it was all done for marketingâŠnot that that makes it any better. Sheâs annoyed and embarrassed, and sheâs not afraid to tell her side of things.
Hereâs what we know.
What has Madeline Argy said about the Central Cee and Ice Spice cheating rumors?Madeline explained the way things went down from her perspective, posting a series of videos to her TikTok account.
âI did not know that any of this [âŠ] was going to happen,â she said. âLet me take you guys back a couple months. Iâm laid up in bed and [Central Cee] comes to me and heâs like, âI have a new song to show you.â And Iâm like, âYes, serenade me!â And then he plays me his verse. Iâm like⊠not only did you just snitch on yourself that youâre cheating, but you just told me exactly how.â
The lyrics sheâs referring to: âIâm selective with who I get with / Gyal on my phone tryna see who I slept with / She investigating, detective / Lucky for me, I deleted the message / All along, it was me and a bad bitch / But I told her it was me and my bredrin.â
She says that Central Cee told her that there was no truth to the lyrics, though, and that the story told in the song was all part of a marketing stunt. Which, if true, is definitely working, since weâre all talking about it, LOL.
âA while later, he tells me he wants to hire an influencer to do one of those âlip-syncingâ videos to one of his older songs. So Iâm like, âOkay, makes sense,ââ Madeline said. âHe didnât tell me he was sending her his personal car to start a dating rumor with her. I was with you guys knee-deep in that comment section [trying to work out what was going on.] We were still together.â
She went on, âSo I call my team, and theyâre like, âMadeline, he just started a dating rumor with another girl. Arenât you supposed to be going to Nigeria with him in two days?ââ
âAnd this is when it clicks. This is not a âbae-cation.â I have just entered this manâs marketing scheme. So I say Iâll still come to Nigeria based on the one condition that none of the professional photos that are taken of us get posted, because Iâve just realized what is happening,â she explained, adding, âShocker, the pictures get out.â
Madeline is adamant that the entire timing of the âDid It Firstâ release was based on Central Ceeâs âplot.â âI then remember he also gave me a release date for the song, and Iâm realizing that itâs only like a month and a bit awayâŠand that I am knees-deep in this guyâs plot,â she said. âI didnât want to be seen with himâŠfor as long as possible before this song drops, because I want to be as far away from that conversation as humanly possible,â Madeline added, making it clear that she didnât want to be involved in the cheating speculation and rumors.
She planned to break up with him, but says Central Cee wouldnât see her until July 1âaround then, she says, he called her. âHe ends up calling me at 11 p.m. at night and heâs like, âI need to see you tonightâŠbecause you need to remember that Iâm a human being when you see what youâre gonna see tomorrow.â
The next day, photos of him and Ice Spice shopping together were published online. âI didnât even actually get to break up with him and heâs already with the next girl,â Madeline said. According to her, that phone call was the last direct conversation they had.
To add insult to injury, this all occurred in the lead-up to her birthday. âI thought [my] rapper boyfriend was at least considerate enough to let me have my birthday week, and then I see them at the club on the 6th of July. My birthday is on the 7th.â
Ice Spice responded withâŠpush-ups?Yeah, so, the âPrincess Dianaâ rapper posted a video of herself to TikTok in which she does push-ups (weâre not gonna talk about her form or the fact that sheâs apparently on a private jet, we donât have the time) and wrote âmood after takin ha manzzz.â
According to outlet AllHipHop, Madeline herself commented on the video, writing, âwhy.â Fans also apparently found a now-deleted video of Argy doing push-ups, and thereâs some debate over who posted their push-ups first, and who did it second to make fun of the other.
Meanwhile, IRL, Argy is getting support from fans. In a recent TikTok, she recounted the story of being out to dinner with her friends and receiving a free drink, paid for by another diner who recognized her and wanted to make her feel better amid the difficult situation. Not only that, but the fan brought over her fluffy dog for Madeline to cuddle with, which the influencer greatly appreciated.
âGirls are so kind,â she said. Love that.
