Crytocurrency is back on the rise and, unfortunately, so is the price of GeForce RTX 4090 GPUs. In 2023 we saw the 4090 drop back down to MSRP, but those days have passed. Right now a 4090 GPU goes for about a $400-$700 markup on Amazon. Fortunately, there’s a way to avoid that: get a pre-built PC instead.

Dell has the 2023 Alienware Aurora R16 Intel Core i9-14900KF RTX 4090 gaming PC for $3299.99 after a $400 instant discount. This is one of Alienware’s highest end configs, with a new liquid-cooled 14th gen Intel Core i9 processor and a coveted RTX 4090 GPU, and it’s actually on sale.

Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 4090 Gaming PC for $3299.99

Alienware Aurora R16 Liquid-Cooled Intel Core i9-14900KF RTX 4090 Gaming PC with 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD, 1000W PSU

The R16 is the newest Alienware Aurora gaming chassis, released in early 2013. It’s 40% smaller in volume compared to previous iterations but has better thermal management. It features a simple yet proven airflow design; air is drawn in through the side intake vents over the GPU area as well as a 120mm rear fan drawing air in and a 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler exhausts air out through the top. A side benefit is that the GPU is supplied with fresh air from the outside instead of recirculating hot internal air.

This particular config is equipped with an Intel Core i9-14900KF CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 32GB of DDR5-5600MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The latest generation Intel Core i9-14900KF Raptor Lake “Refresh” CPU boasts a max clock of 6GHz with 24 cores, 32 threads, and a 36MB cache. The “F” in 14900KF simply means that the chip doesn’t have onboard graphics (iGPU). The “K” means that this is an unlocked chip, which means it has more overclocking headroom. The entire system is powered by a 1000W 80PLUS Platinum PSU. A side panel window is installed to show off the components, but overall the look of the R16 is much more understated than its predecessors.

Why choose a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU?The RTX 4090 is far and away the most powerful video card you can get right now. No other GPU, either from NVIDIA or from AMD, comes close. As a reference, the RTX 4090 is about 110% faster at 4K gaming than the already impressive RTX 3080. It’s about 60% faster than the previous king, the RTX 3090 Ti. That could very well be the single biggest performance upgrade within a single generational gap for the GeForce line of cards. If you’re still not convinced, check out our RTX 4090 FE review. The 4090 is also the consumer card of choice for stuff like machine learning or AI image generation apps like Stable Diffusion. NVIDIA cards are generally more powerful than AMD cards with these kinds of apps and the amount of VRAM is of the highest priority; the 4090 has 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM, more than any other consumer NVIDIA card.
