Wondering what’s topping Victoria Beckham’s spring shopping list? “White tailoring, slick dresses, and the perfect clutch bag,” she tells Vogue—key pieces you can find in her debut collection with Mango, which officially lands in stores on April 23rd, but an edit of which is available to shop now exclusively for Vogue readers.

Beckham tells us she was first approached by the Spanish giant to collaborate on a capsule in honor of its 40th anniversary, which she says was great timing for her brand as it provided her with the chance to reach a new audience.

“It’s an opportunity to reach out to a whole other community,” she says, one that allows her to bring her signature suiting and sleek separates to a woman who “may not be in a position or want to buy designer clothes” at their typical price points.

The 46-piece collection, which ranges from $80 to $500, puts the spotlight on flared trousers, angular blazers, satin blouses, spaghetti-strap slips, and even accessories—all rendered in a color palette of soft pastels and neutrals. Not to mention it’s one reminiscent of the everyday uniform Beckham has championed for decades, fitting right in with the designer’s very own wardrobe. “It’s a very edited collection of great tailoring and beautiful dresses that’s true to my brand DNA,” she says.

When speaking to the collaborative design process, it’s no surprise that the DNA of her eponymous brand and her own personal archive were integral influences. She also reveled in the fact that Mango brought their own “expertise to the fittings to achieve our desired silhouette and they worked very closely with us in developing finishes that truly elevated the product. Because everything was developed in Barcelona, we had very close contact with the product and the people working on it.”

For the collection, Beckham was particularly inspired by the ease and elegance of Jane Birkin’s character in La Piscine—a French film that she came across many years ago, which led to intricate crocheted pieces and swimwear that echo Birkin’s French Riviera costumes. “I have always loved Jane Birkin’s character in the film—her sense of freedom and the natural beauty and ease she possesses. That essence is always something I like to bring into my collections and imagine in my customers as well.”

With a keen focus on longevity, the designer promises that “when you invest in one of these pieces, you won’t just wear it for one season, they’ll be pieces you’ll keep in your wardrobe and wear time and time again.” Beckham also recognizes the “strong fashion message that exists in every single garment,” adding that the quality hasn’t been compromised, despite the price points being lower than her usual runway-ready designs.
