This Summer Is Too Packed With Great-Looking Games

Summer is looking stacked with big and small game releases across all platforms. If you were hoping youâd get a break from all the awesome games launching this year in the hotter months of 2024, Iâve got bad news for you and your wallet.

In January 2024, we saw a massive avalanche of good games launch in a short time period, and I asked if this year would be able to âstand toe-to-toeâ with the incredible output of games we saw in 2023. Here we are, in June, and it looks like 2024 might match or even surpass last year based on the packed summer ahead of us.

And so much variety. From indie titles to big AAA releases to even some mid-tier things and mobile games, thereâs something for everyone. Thereâs a big new open-world Star Wars game, a collection of cool-looking retro-inspired titles, a new spin on the RTS genre, and a game about a squirrel with a gun!
Whatâs frustrating is I want to play most of them. I look at STALKER 2, Astro Bot, and Space Marine 2 landing in the same week and can already feel my body aching from staying up late to squeeze in as much time as I can with them before bed.
If the rest of 2024 can keep up this paceâand looking ahead it seems like it mightâthen we might have an even better year for gaming than in 2023. And we will all have less money in our accounts by the time 2025 rolls around.
