Tiffany Haddish has shared her reaction to Common revealing that he could potentially tie the knot with girlfriend Jennifer Hudson.

Haddish, who dated Common between 2020 and 2021, caught wind of her ex’s declaration that if he ever decides to get married, Hudson would surely be the bride. “If I’m gonna get married, it’s to her,” he said when the topic was broached during a sit-down with Charlamagne Tha God. “Simple as that.”

The legendary lyricist’s remark quickly went viral, with various outlets picking up the news. Fans on social media also weighed in, with one user noting that Common had never openly spoken of marriage when referring to his previous girlfriends, Haddish included.

“Well there he said it he wants to marry her he ain’t neva said that about no woman b4,” the user commented on Instagram. However, instead of appearing insulted or miffed by Common’s seeming affinity for Hudson, Haddish expressed her support of the new power couple, whom she herself says she wants to see jump the broom one day. “EXACTLY! I hope they actually get married,” the 44-year-old wrote in response to the previous commenter, quelling any sense of competition or drama from her end.

Despite appearing to be fully invested in his current relationship, Common has had nothing but glowing words to say about Haddish, whom he admits to have fallen in love with during their time together.

“Tiffany, for me, is one of the best people I’ve met in life — one of the best-hearted and most authentic and caring people that I’ve met,” he previously told Hollywood Unlocked. “And that’s what made me love her and be in love with her and want to be in a relationship with her and grow with her.”

After calling it quits with Haddish due to scheduling conflicts, Common would begin to get cozy with Hudson, whom he gushed over during his appearance on The Breakfast Club. “This is definitely — with all due respect to all the women I’ve dated ’cause it’s all love — but this is a really healthy and beautiful relationship,” the hitmaker said of his union with the R&B star and talk show host.

He also credited Hudson, a fellow Chi-Town native, with helping provide creative inspiration during the creation of his latest album, The Auditorium Vol. 1 with Pete Rock “Having a lady from Chicago, that has allowed me to come home and just be home. I hadn’t done that in a while where I was just going home and being around my loved ones and having no work to do.”

The 52-year-old continued, “That helped me with this album because going to your roots, you gotta always recharge and plug in to them roots. I feel like that’s what I wanted to give to Chicago again. When you’re with somebody who’s from where you from, it’s a different kind of connection.”
