Tigers spring training schedule 2024: Tickets, TV coverage and times to watch baseball games in Florida

For nearly a century, Detroit baseball fans have known exactly where to focus their attention as their team prepares for the upcoming season. The Tigers have held spring training in Lakeland, Florida, since 1934, and called Joker Marchant Stadium home since 1966, the longest-running relationship between a team and its spring home in baseball. 

Optimism always abounds this time of year, but that feeling may carry a bit more realism for Tigers fans entering 2024. On the heels of a second-place finish last year — albeit with a sub-.500 record, once again — Detroit has emerged as a trendy sleeper pick to contend for the eminently winnable AL Central title. 

While future Hall of Famer Miguel Cabrera has retired, the young core led by pitcher Tarik Skubal, first baseman Spencer Torkelson and outfielder Riley Greene returns and has been supplemented by outfielder Mark Canha and veteran pitchers Kenta Maeda and Jack Flaherty. The Tigers will also hope Javier Baez rediscovers his batting stroke and their base of young talent continues to improve.

Health will be key, particularly among the starting pitchers, but the potential appears to be there for a return to the postseason for the first time in a decade.

Tigers spring training schedule 2024Grapefruit League games begin Saturday, Feb. 24, when the Yankees visit Joker Marchant Stadium. Traditional spring training games conclude March 24 in Lakeland against the Rays, but the Tigers will play one more game against Tampa Bay at Tropicana Field on March 26 before heading to Chicago to open the regular season against the White Sox on March 28.
