
Transfer Deadline Day Ticker: Gonzalez, Asensio, Gimenez and more
Monday marked the end of the Winter Transfer Window which allowed many European sides the final chance this year to bolster their squads.
Manchester City locked down midfielder Nico Gonzalez help right at the buzzer, signing him for a reported £50 million. The Spanish midfielder made the move from Portuguese giants Porto in a permanent transfer.
Santiago Gimenez is on his way to Serie A after joining AC Milan in a permanent deal from Feyenoord. The Mexican striker signed a four-year contract and will now join U.S. men’s national team stars Christian Pulisic and Yunus Musah in Milan.
Marcus Rashford stayed in the English Premier League but is on the way to Birmingham after joining Aston Villa on loan. The England international has found it tough to feature under Ruben Amorim and will now try and spark his career at Villa Park.
Tottenham added Mathys Tel on a loan move from Bayern Munich, which comes with an option to buy. Should Tel’s option be triggered by Tottenham, he will sign a six-year contract with the club.
Aston Villa also added midfield help in the form of Spanish international Marco Asensio. Asensio joined on loan for the remainder of the Premier League season. The Villans also added defender Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea.
Chelsea also loaned out midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka to Borussia Dortmund the remainder of the season.
West Ham United bolstered its attacking options in the form of Republic of Ireland forward Evan Ferguson.
Lens defender Kevin Danso is on his way to North London after joining Tottenham on loan. Fellow EPL side Wolves were in the mix for Danso, but Tottenham beat them to the punch.
James Ward-Prowse returned to West Ham United after his loan spell to Nottingham Forest was ended early. The England midfielder struggled for consistent playing time in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad.
Cesare Casadei, Marcus Edwards, and Valentin Barco were among the other players on the move prior to Monday’s deadline.
Here’s a rundown of all the recent European Transfers and reports:
AC Milan added Mexican international Santiago Gimenez in a permanent deal from Feyenoord. Gimenez scored 65 goals in 105 appearances for Feyenoord and won the Eredivisie title in 2022-23.
Aston Villa added England international Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United for the remainder of the season. Rashford’s deal does include a purchase option for the Villans.
Unai Emery’s squad also added Marco Asensio and Axel Disasi on loan for the remainder of the season. There is no purchase option for either player.
Manchester United added Patrick Dorgu in a permanent move from Italian club Lecce. The Red Devils reportedly paired £25 million plus add-ons for Dorgu’s services.
Chelsea loaned out midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka to Borussia Dortmund the remainder of the season. Chukwuemeka has played only five times under Enzo Maresca.
Tottenham have signed Lens defender Kevin Danso on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season. Ange Postecoglou’s backline has been hit heavily with injuries throughout the season.
Eintracht Frankfurt added striker Michy Batshuayi to their attacking ranks, acquiring him in a permanent deal from Galatasaray.
Italy forward Nicolo Zaniolo has joined Fiorentina on loan after his previous loan spell at Atalanta was cut short.
Crystal Palace added England defender Ben Chilwell on loan from Chelsea for the remainder of the season.
Yorbe Vertessen has traded the German Bundesliga for the Austrian Bundesliga, joining Red Bull Salzburg in a permanent deal from Union Berlin.
Werder Bremen has added Portuguese international striker Andre Silva on loan from RB Leipzig.
Borussia Dortmund acquired goalkeeper Diant Ramaj from Ajax but proceeded to loan him out to Danish Superliga side FC Kobenhaven.
Rob Holding has joined promotion-chasing Sheffield United on loan from Crystal Palace.
Goalkeeper Alex Palmer has made the jump to Ipswich Town from West Bromwich Albion. The Tractor Boys will reportedly pay up to £5 million for Palmer.
Evan Ferguson joined West Ham United on loan for the remainder of the season from Brighton & Hove Albion, both clubs announced.
Nottingham Forest have ended James Ward-Prowse‘s loan early, both clubs announced. Ward-Prowse will return to West Ham United after making just nine league appearances with Forest.
Bologna added defender Davide Calabria from fellow Serie A side AC Milan. Calabria has been a Milan player for the past 18 years.
Chelsea has recalled USMNT winger/wingback Caleb Wiley from his loan at Strasbourg and loaned him to Watford for the remainder of the season.
Kelechi Iheanacho has made the move back to England, this time joining Middlesbrough on loan from Sevilla.
Juventus added England international Lloyd Kelly on loan from Newcastle United for the remainder of the season.
Celtic added defensive help in the form of Jeffrey Schlupp. Schlupp joined on loan for the remainder of the season.
Torino have acquired midfielder Cesare Casadei from Chelsea on a permanent deal. Chelsea reportedly received a £12.5 million fee for the 22-year-old and also hold a sell-on clause.
Torino added midfield help in the form of Nuha Jatta on loan for the remainder of the season.
Valentin Barco has joined Strasbourg on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion until the end of the season. Barco joined the Seagulls in January 2024 but has only made eight league appearances this season.
Standard Liege added Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu on loan from Southampton.
Nottingham Forest added Tyler Bindon in a permanent deal from League One side Reading.
Portsmouth added goalkeeper Ben Killip in a permanent deal from League One side Barnsley.
Burnley have added Marcus Edwards on loan from Sporting Lisbon for the remainder of the season.
Borussia Dortmund has added Swedish defender Daniel Svensson on loan from Nordsjaelland for the remainder of the Bundesliga season.
Aston Villa defender Kosta Nedeljkovic has joined RB Leipzig on loan for the remainder of the season.
Ipswich Town have acquired youth defender Somto Boniface in a permanent deal from Chelsea.
Brighton & Hove Albion acquired Greek youth international Stefanos Tzimas from Nuremberg. Tzimas will stay in the 2. Bundesliga with Nuremberg on loan for the remainder of the season.
Hoffenheim added Norwegian defender Leo Østigård on loan from Rennes for the remainder of the season.
Bochum midfielder Lukas Daschner joined Swiss Super League side St. Gallen on loan for the remainder of the league season.
Hull City added veteran defensive help in the form of John Egan from Burnley. Egan joined in a permanent deal and will stay in the EFL Championship.
Jordan Rhodes has been loaned to Mansfield Town from Blackpool for the remainder of the season.
Nuremberg has sold defender Finn Jeltsch to Bundesliga side Stuttgart, both clubs announced.
Blackburn Rovers has acquired Yuri Ribeiro in a permanent deal from Portuguese club Braga.
Middlesbrough have signed Aston Villa winger Samuel Iling-Junior on loan until the end of the season. Iling-Junior spent the first half of the season on loan at Serie A side Bologna.
Barnsley has loaned out Sam Cosgrove to Stockport United for the remainder of the season.
Charlton Athletic have signed Alex Gilbert on loan from Middlesbrough until the end of the season.
Preston North End have acquired defender Ryan Porteous on loan from Watford for the remainder of the season.

RB Leipzig has acquired winger Tidiam Gomis in a permanent deal from French Ligue 2 side Caen, both clubs announced.
