Transfer expert hints at possible summer exit for Osimhen
Victor Osimhen scored twenty-six league goals to help Napoli secure the Serie A title last season, their first league title after three decades.
Popular transfer expert, Ben Jacobs, has hinted at a possible Napoli exit for Victor Osimhen in the summer, despite his recently concluded contract extension deal, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen, 25, enjoyed a great season under Luciano Spaletti, winning the Scudetto with Napoli. His performances saw him pick up the CAF Player of the Year Award, alongside the 8th position in the Ballon d’Or rankings.
Despite interest from other big clubs in Europe, the Super Eagles striker opted to remain in Naples and just recently penned a new deal that will see him stay at the club till the summer of 2026.
Mauricio Pochetinno’s Chelsea are in dire need of a prolific goalscorer and are keen on the Nigerian striker. According to Ben Jacobs, a summer move might be on the cards.
Speaking on The Done Deal Show, the journalist suggested that Chelsea would be the most audacious club to launch a bid for Osimhen, especially since he has a €130m release clause in his new contract.
“Osimhen’s primary concern is to take his time and to move most likely in the summer of 2024, and most likely to the Premier League. I don’t think it’s locked in that it’s Chelsea or any other club. I think if there is one club that is audacious and ambitious enough to try their luck in January with a view to a summer that would most likely be Chelsea,” Jacobs said.
Osimhen has scored seven goals in Serie A this season and will be one to keep an eye on as he lights up the AFCON tournament with the Super Eagles.
