The Jacksonville Jaguars are the latest team to jump on the throwback uniform wave.

On Thursday, the team unveiled its “Prowler” throwbacks for the 2024 season in a series of photos that featured quarterback Trevor Lawrence plus an epic two-minute video.

The Jaguars’ throwback uniforms are part of the celebration for the team’s 30th season and are based on their original expansion uniforms from their inaugural season in 1995. Team reporter John Oehser noted that the team will debut the uniforms in Week 5 against the Indianapolis Colts, which is the same game that former head coach Tom Coughlin will receive his induction into the Pride of the Jaguars.

“Everywhere I go and from every comment I read, it’s apparent our fans are longing to see Jaguars’ players in throwback uniforms,” Jaguars president Mark Lamping said in a statement. “That persistence paid off and our uniforms reminiscent of the team’s early years are back by popular demand – just in time for the 30th season and, in particular, the Pride of the Jaguars induction of our inaugural head coach, Tom Coughlin.”

The Jaguars finished with a 9-8 record for the second straight season in 2023 but fell short of the playoffs. Jacksonville opened the year with an 8-3 record before disappointingly losing five of its last six games.

Last month, the team signed Lawrence to a five-year contract extension reportedly worth $275 million. With an annual average salary of $55 million, Lawrence is now tied with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow as the highest-paid player in the league.

The Jags’ new threads are sure to excite fans as they try to make it back to the playoffs in 2024.
