Triathlon superstar Ashleigh Gentle claimed massive London win despite tearing hamstring
Ashleigh Gentle went through the pain barrier – quite literally – to claim that massive T100 London victory last weekend.
The Australian superstar showed that a below-par performance in San Francisco in June was a mere blip as she surged through on the run to take the tape ahead of Switzerland’s Imogen Simmonds and Britain’s Kat Matthews.
But afterwards she revealed that she’d had an uneasy feeling in her leg during the final stages of the run, in fact more than that.
Gentle reveals injury
Ashleigh, writing on her Instagram account, revealed: “So it turns out the cramping/pulling feeling in my leg on the last lap of the run at @t100triathlon London, was my hamstring tearing. It obviously didn’t stop me finishing the race and it seems I didn’t do too much damage. I will be pretty cautious with this as I have a lot of time before Ibiza, but I do hope to be on the walk/run program soon. Rehab ready 🫡🎢”
The good news for the 33-year-old Gentle as that she has a little time to recover in time for the next stated goal at T100 Ibiza – just under two months to be precise. Race day for that showdown is set for the very end of September.
T100 standings update
That win in London sees Gentle in a comfortable lead at the top of the latest T100 World Tour standings. She claimed 35 points for the win, which was her second T100 success of 2024 after a victory in Singapore in April.
