12.35: High Class Hero 1/1 (1.5pts)*
1.35: Saint Lucie 8/13*
2.05: Saint Sam 4/6 (1.5pts)*
3.45: Bambino Fever 6/5*
*Fourfold 10/1 (1pt)High Class HeroHoping to end the year on a good note, there’s a few at Punchestown today that appeal at short odds, despite often steering clear of more than a couple of punts at these kind of meetings – but Willie Mullins and Paul Townend could well end up with a few winners in this fixture.
High Class Hero starts things off over 3m for the trainer and jockey in a seven-runner beginners chase event.
His main rival is the Walk In The Park gelding trained by Gordon Elliott, Shannon Royale.
Who has gone well enough on his first two chase starts to suggest he’s got a promising career over fences coming – placing a close second on both runs including behind Mullins’s Dancing City here just three weeks ago.
High Class Hero also placed close behind Dancing City last time out also here at Punchestown but for the Grade 1 novice hurdle in May.
That was his best run really and his first promising start over 3m too under rules, so looks dangerous coming into this with big potential on seasonal and chase debut.
Saint SamHard to oppose Paul Townend and Willie Mullins in this three runner event considering Saint Sam is the choice of the jockey over stablemate Sir Gerhard.
The seven-year-old made it three wins in a row when winning at Clonmel in a Grade 2 chase showing perhaps his best form yet, going clear of Fil Dor, but has also been clear over hurdles recently too.
Sir Gerhard is going for yet another trip also steering clear of chasing for now, but was far back here in November in the Grade 1 Morgiana Hurdle.
His best form recently was coming third behind Impaire Et Passe, and is difficult to back on what is very fluctuating form.
Bambino FeverLooking to make it a four-fold and at least four on the day for Willie Mullins – his mare Bambino Fever looks a great shot for this big field bumper.
She won by a wide margin in a point to point in May and her potential being from this yard, coupled with her pedigree and winning form suggests this could be a wise bet, hoping to cap off the year in style.
