Tyler Glasnow Says Shohei Ohtani’s Dodgers Teammates Never Doubted His Innocence
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow commended Shohei Ohtani for maintaining his focus while embroiled in the gambling scandal involving his former interpreter Ippei Mizuhara. He also made clear that when it comes to Ohtani’s teammates, there was never any doubt about the superstar’s innocence inside the clubhouse.
During an appearance on “The Chris Rose Rotation,” Glasnow told host Chris Rose that it was immediately clear to Ohtani’s Dodgers teammates that he “had nothing to do with it.”
“…I just think, too, being in a clubhouse, everyone knew right away, like, clearly he had nothing to do with it,” said Glasnow. “The first thing he did was like, ‘Take my phone!’ He was like, ‘Figure this out.'”
“We all knew early on that Ippei was doing some shady stuff,” he added.

Mizuhara, 39, stands accused of stealing $16 million from Ohtani in order to cover debts to an illegal bookie. He reportedly racked up massive gambling losses in the range of $40 million. Mizuhara turned himself in to authorities on Friday and was released on $25,000 bond.
Although conversations about the gambling scandal don’t figure to cease anytime soon, Glasnow noted he was happy Ohtani could more fully shift his attention back to baseball now that his name has been cleared publicly.
Despite the off-field distractions, Ohtani has been dialed in at the plate for Los Angeles. In 18 games, the 29-year-old is slashing .338/.386/.662 with four home runs, 10 RBIs, and a National League-best 25 hits.
