Ukraine regulator KRAIL blocks 371 illegal gambling sites
The Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (KRAIL), the regulator of gambling in Ukraine, has blocked 371 websites offering illegal gambling in the country.
As a result of the joint actions of the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries and the Security Service of Ukraine, on June 4, 2024, the National Center for Operational and Technical Management of Telecommunications Networks of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine issued Order No. 451/2256 “On Blocking of Domain Names”.
According to the order, providers of electronic communication services are instructed to restrict (block) access to websites on their own recursive DNS servers. It is about restricting access (blocking access) to 371 websites through which access to illegal gambling was provided.
It is worth noting that on the initiative of KRAIL and the SBU, during April-May 2024, the National Center for Operational and Technical Management of Telecommunications Networks issued orders according to which providers of electronic communication services were instructed to limit access on their recursive DNS servers to more than a thousand domain names and their subdomains.
