United given green light to sign two Dutch stars

England will face The Netherlands in the semi-finals of Euro 2024 after a penalty shoot-out victory over Switzerland on Saturday.

After a 1-1 draw, Jordan Pickford was once again the hero for the Three Lions as he saved Manuel Akanji’s spot-kick, helping England secure a place in the final four of the competition.

England will meet the Dutch for the first time at a major tournament since Euro ’96, when the Three Lions defeated their opponents 4-1.

Ronald Koeman’s side reached the semis courtesy of a 2-1 in over Turkey, and the Dutch will undoubtedly provide a stern test for England on Wednesday evening.

Now, it has emerged that Manchester United are working to sign two Dutch stars.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, both Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt have given the Red Devils the green light to pursue potential transfers.

Zirkzee has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs

The journalist claims that both Dutchmen have spoken to United boss Erik ten Hag, and United are now proceeding with talks with their respective clubs.

Bologna star Zirkzee, 23, played a crucial role for the Italian side last term as they achieved a fifth-placed finish in Serie A.

The forward scored 11 goals in 34 league games, but his impressive displays have attracted interest from several clubs including United and Arsenal.

De Ligt, meanwhile, has been a regular in defence for Bayern Munich since joining the German club from Juventus two years ago.

He has played more than 70 times for Bayern across all competitions, but hasn’t yet played a single minute for his country at the Euros.

Romano suggests that United have already agreed a salary with Zirkzee, with United now working to agree a deal with Serie A side Bologna.
