A Brief Recap Of The Lawsuit & Allegations Against The Rapper
As The Shade Room previously reported, Garcia filed the harassment lawsuit against Megan on Tuesday, April 23. The rapper’s former photographer asserts that he worked full-time for Megan between 2019 and June 2023.
Additionally, he alleges that the “harassment” he experienced while working for the rapper “was so severe or pervasive” that it amounted to a “hostile, abusive work environment.”
Garcia alleges that during a trip to Ibiza, Spain, in June 2022, he witnessed Megan being intimate with another woman while they were in an SUV.
“I felt uncomfortable. I was kind of frozen, and I was shocked,” Garcia told NBC News. “At kind of just… overall audacity to do this right, right beside me.”
After the incident, Garcia alleges that Megan told him, “Don’t ever discuss what you saw.” Additionally, he claims that Megan fat-shamed him with various insults during the Ibiza trip, which included calling him a “fat b***h.”
After the trip concluded, Garcia alleges that he went from being paid a monthly flat rate for his work with Meg to “a “pay-per-task system.” He asserts that he began to be treated differently by the rapper, and in June 2023, he was abruptly fired by Roc Nation.
Garcia is reportedly seeking unpaid wages, interest on unpaid wages, unpaid overtime wages, and other punitive damages from Megan. He would also like the rapper to cover his attorney fees.
NBC News reports that the total amount Garcia seeks from Meg exceeds six figures.
Furthermore, Garcia is reportedly being represented by Ron Zambrano. Zambrano is the same lawyer representing Lizzo’s former backup dancers, who have accused the singer of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.
