Todd Chrisley Reacts To His Wife’s Resentencing
According to a report published by the New York Post on Wednesday, October 2, an attorney for the couple shared Todd’s sentiments in an exclusive statement. Jay Surgent reportedly explained that Todd is “extremely disappointed” and “dissatisfied” with the judge’s September 25 ruling on Julie’s case.

Additionally, Todd is “concerned about Julie’s health and welfare” as she remains behind bars. The outlet reports that Julie allegedly experienced a “serious health problem” during her time in prison.

To note, in 2023, Julie was allegedly informed by a prison doctor that a “sign of a tumor” had been detected in her body, per PEOPLE. Furthermore, the outlet adds that Julie was previously diagnosed with breast cancer and reportedly underwent a double mastectomy in 2012.

Despite Julie’s medical history, Todd and his attorney did not disclose the cause of their current fears surrounding her “health and welfare.”

More Details On Julie Chrisley’s Resentencing
As The Shade Room previously reported, Julie was resentenced to her initial 7-year prison term last month. The reality star’s lawyers reportedly hoped for her to receive a resentence of “no more than five years.”

Additionally, during the hearing, Julie issued an apology for the actions that allegedly landed her behind bars.

“I would like to say I’ve had years to think about what I’ve wanted to say and I’m sorry for my actions and situations that let us to where we are today. I’ve had 20 months in prison, but it has been much more leading up to the trial and I apologize for my actions that led to where we are today,” Julie told the court, per PEOPLE. “I have done everything I can do to get closer to my family. I’ve taken tests for new skills, such as driving a forklift and serving food in proper ways
this has been the most difficult part of my life. I can’t ever repay my children for what they’ve had to go through and for that, I am so sorry.”

After the hearing, Julie’s legal team revealed they plan to appeal the judge’s resentencing. Additionally, Julie and Todd’s daughter, Savannah, shared a strong reaction to the judge’s ruling.

“What has happened is an injustice,” Savannah told reporters in a subsequent press conference, per Entertainment Tonight. “
I’m very disappointed
so we’re going to move forward with appealing this sentence, and that will happen in the next fourteen days.”

Here’s Why The ‘Chrisley Knows Best’ Star Was Resentenced
As The Shade Room previously reported, Julie was initially sentenced to 7 years in prison after she and her husband were convicted of tax evasion and bank fraud in June 2022. Meanwhile, Todd received a 12-year prison sentence.

In January 2023, the couple surrendered to separate prison camps, per The Shade Room. However, in June 2024, a “three-judge panel” overturned Julie’s sentence. The panel reportedly asserted that her sentence had been “miscalculated.” Additionally, the panel reportedly concluded that there was “insufficient evidence” to hold Julie accountable for the “entirety” of the tax evasion and bank fraud scheme.
