USA Players Win Big Despite Missing $57M Powerball Prize

Players from New York, Georgia and other states have narrowly missed the $57 million Powerball jackpot during the latest drawing. However, the two players were still rewarded well for nailing quite a few numbers correctly.

As of the time of this writing, there is no information about the stores that sold the winning tickets.

The player for Georgia, for example, matched four white numbers and the red Powerball, which would have usually netted them $50,000. However, the player had spent an extra $1 on the Power Play option, raising the actual prize to $150,000.

According to Powerball, 3 other players, from Colorado, Florida and Wyoming, won a similar prize. Additionally, 7 others grabbed $50,000 after matching four numbers and the Powerball without having Power Play active.

In the meantime, a New York player turned their small Powerball ticket into a $2 million payday after correctly guessing all numbers but the red Powerball. As the only player to do so, they would have been eligible to claim a $1 million prize.

However, just like their Georgian counterpart, the New York player had the Power Play feature activated, allowing them to claim $2 million instead.

The Jackpot Keeps on Growing
For context, the winning numbers for the June 19 drawing were 4, 27, 44, 50 and 64. The red Powerball stood at 7.

Should someone have matched all numbers, they would have been eligible to claim a $57 million prize with a lump cash value of $27.3 million.

Since no one won the jackpot, it will continue growing and is expected to hit $72 million for the next drawing with a cash value of $34.7 million. The next drawing is set to take place on June 22.

According to Powerball, the odds of winning the grand jackpot stand at 1 in 292,201,338. Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and can be watched live online.

One of the biggest jackpots in Powerball history was claimed by a lottery club a few months ago. The most recent winner, on the other hand, was a player from New Jersey who took home some $223 million.
