USYNT goalkeeper Julian Eyestone promoted to Brentford’s first team squad

Julian Eyestone has worked his way up to English Premier League side Brentford’s first team squad.

Eyestone has been promoted to Keith Andrews’ first-team roster ahead of the 2025-26 EPL season, the club announced Friday. The U.S. youth national team goalkeeper signed a new, long-term deal until June 2031 while Brentford also holds two option years.

Eyestone, 19, made 22 appearances for Brentford’s U-21 squad last season, with six of those coming in youth cup competitions. A former Duke University player and FC Dallas academy graduate, Eyestone also has nine appearances for MLS NEXT Pro club North Texas SC under his belt.

“Julian is a very high potential young goalkeeper who improved as the season went on. He settled in so well after his move from America,” said Brentford assistant coach Neil MacFarlane. “His infectious energy, character and willingness to improve his game saw him play a big part in our successes this season.

“It was a big goal of mine coming into my first year in the B team to get that promotion so to get it is a big accomplishment and I’m very happy,” said Eyestone. “Being able to be that close with the first team as a B-team player was a big step for me and it made me feel a lot more comfortable. Now going into this year, I feel like I’ve been around these guys and I’m not a stranger.

On the international level, Eyestone has featured for the USMNT U-20’s and U-19’s to date. He remains a rising goalkeeping prospect within U.S. Soccer.

Brentford finished 10th in the Premier League last season and will open their 2025-26 league schedule against Nottingham Forest on August 17.
