Valerie Bertinelli’s ex Mike Goodnough makes awkward admission about who ended their ‘complicated relationship’

Well, this is awkward.

Valerie Bertinelli’s ex-boyfriend Mike Goodnough set the record straight on his version of who pulled the plug on their “complicated” romance.

The writer claimed that he “ended the relationship” while replying to a user on Threads who attempted to mock him for being “left” by the former Food Network host.

Goodnough shared his truth on the social platform after shedding light on his split from Bertinelli, which occurred last year after 10 months of dating.

“Valerie and I had a complicated relationship,” he wrote in part via Instagram Friday.

“Our time as a couple ended months ago but our close contact only really ended recently. So, it is more ‘fresh’ than it would seem.”

In his lengthy post, Goodnough also shared that “external” circumstances pulled them apart.

However, he said that love was never an issue in their relationship.

“I loved Valerie more than I’ve ever loved someone in a relationship of choice,” Goodnough explained.

“As a result, the dissolution of our relationship and way it played out has been by far the most painful experience of my life,” he added.

Goodnough’s emotional post came after he accused Bertinelli of taking “backhanded swipes” at him on social media.

But in March, the “One Day at a Time” star, 64, had nothing but good things to say about her ex as she marked the anniversary of when they met in person.

The TV personality said in the since-deleted post that she was “becoming a much stronger and more benevolent human for having met him and spent time with him.”

“I value all of our long conversations and they have lead [sic] me to interesting and fascinating places I rarely thought to go,” she continued. “I look at life with a different perspective and caring because of my experiences and conversations with him.”
