Veeze has never gone with trends. The singular Detroit rapper has always followed his instincts and, even when he was starting out, never felt any pressure to follow trends or hop on beats just because they were popular.
âI donât follow trends, thatâs just how I make music,â Veeze told Rolling Stoneâs Delisa Shannon backstage at Lollapalooza. âIt was totally the opposite. If things were going like this over, certain trends going on in the culture, Iâmma go [this way]. It donât matter.â
While Veeze has always gone his own way, he did admit heâs gotten more proactive in the studio over the past few years. Asked how his process has changed between 2019 and 2024, Veeze quipped, âBack then I used to be kinda lazy. But I love rapping⊠Iâve fallen deeper in love with the craft and want to be better than I was the last time.â

Elsewhere, Veeze spoke about his 2023 album, Ganger, and what pushed him to ditch an earlier version of the record that didnât feel right and overhaul it completely. âI like to feel like itâs a project, not just a list of songs,â he said. âBut I gotta get that feeling. I gotta rap that feeling⊠Each song was a different thing â a different mood, different vibe, different environment. But it is important, to me, to [get] to the point where it feels good, and I know my fans are gonna feel the same way.â
Veeze also shouted a litany of his favorite rappers, his friendship with Sexyy Red, and the other things heâd add to his political platform, along with the indomitable policy position: Make hating illegal.Â
