Victoria Monét is healing her inner child one moment at a time.
This past Father’s Day, she spent it with her dad for the first time and shared the emotional photo of them together on X/Twitter.
“Spending our first Father’s Day together ever,” wrote the 35-year-old, calling their interaction “a real blessing.”
The Grammy winner concluded the post by sharing, “The little girl in me is so happyyyyyy,” adding that this is what “healing” looks like.
The mother of one first revealed that she connected with her father for the first time in August 2023 on Angela Yee’s Way Up podcast.
“I was born an only child, but I met my dad in my twenties and I discovered that I have a sister,” Monét revealed. She described meeting her sister as a “beautiful” moment.
The Sacramento native has always been candid about how close she is with her mother, L’Tanya, affectionately known to the masses as Mommy Monét.
When she presented the JAGUAR II singer with the Rising Star Award at this year’s Billboard’s Women In Music event, she gushed, “I remember how you were a little girl, and you were too shy to tell your teacher that you did not have a seat so you sat with your knees bent and legs crossed and pretended that you had a chair. Baby girl, not only today do you have a seat at the table, but it’s front and center as you’re inspiring young ladies to find their voice in music.”
Monét also praised her boyfriend, John Gaines, for how he shows up for their daughter, Hazel.
“You are the best dad in the whoooole city!!! One of my favorite things about Hazel’s life is that I know without a doubt she will always feel the love of her father! Thank you for being an amazing dad! She has it made with you,” she wrote under his Father’s Day tribute.
The personal trainer-model shared, “I look at today as a day of gratitude. I’m not just happy to have a child, but happy I get to be her dad. Fatherhood is the hardest and most unpredictable challenge of my life, but it’s also the most rewarding and fulfilling. I’m grateful for all the laughs and all the lessons. Proud to be a Girl Dad. Happy Father’s Day Fellas.”
