Video: Aljamain Sterling excited to show ‘a lot more of the flashy stuff’ at featherweight

LAS VEGAS—Former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling talks to the media ahead of his featherweight debut Saturday at UFC 300, including how he feels moving up from 135 pounds, his history with opponent Calvin Kattar, if he ever sees himself fighting Sean O’Malley again, and more.

“We’re going to find out Saturday night,” Sterling said of how he will perform at 145 pounds. “I really don’t know. I think the training has been looking great. We’ve gotten a lot of good matchups in the training room, a lot of good feedback. All in all we’ve been doing some really good stuff. I’m proud of the work we’ve put in, I’ve just got to go out there and perform and I think if I do that the best version of myself shows up.

“I really always talked about this at ‘35, but I was a little more green back then, but there’s a lot I feel like I haven’t been able to show in the octagon just because of energy consumption, the weight cut. I think now we’re going to get to see a lot more of the flashy stuff and get back to the real ‘Funk.’”
