Caitlin Clark put up a career-high 30 points on Tuesday night, albeit in an 88-82 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks, dropping the Indiana Fever to 1-7 on the season.
She credited an aggressive approach for her strong performance.
“I think I just played with an aggressive mindset,” she told reporters. “I think that was the biggest thing—to play downhill the best I could. We did some good things and then we just kind of shot ourselves in the foot.”
She also notched six assists, five rebounds, three steals and three blocks, shooting 7-of-16 from the field, though she had seven turnovers. Those are the ups and downs that come with being a rookie.
The Fever will take those ups, however. Clark’s 30-point showing was the third-most points in game by a rookie in franchise history, trailing only the pair of 32-point games Tamika Catchings posted back in 2002.
Clark is special. If she remains aggressive and continues to evolve, she’s going to truly take the WNBA by storm.
