Master P says he has the key to the New Orleans Pelicans winning the NBA championship, and it’s staring him in the mirror.

The rap mogul told TMZ Sports that the Pelicans would win the 2025 title if he were added to the coaching staff.

“Y’all need to put me on the coaching staff next year and we gon’ win the whole thing,” Master P said.

While it’s unlikely Master P will find himself on an NBA bench next season, he does have basketball bonafides. He was on the training camp roster for the Charlotte Hornets and Toronto Raptors in the 1990s and even made appearances in exhibition games.

The Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings also gave Master P tryouts for their summer league teams in the early 2000s.

Master P’s son, Mercy, is also a 4-star prospect who is set to play for Houston in the fall.

The Pelicans may not have a rap star in their plans moving forward, but they are expected to make noticeable changes ahead of next season. Executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin said he plans to make moves to improve the roster after the Pelicans were eliminated in the first round by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“In the past, we’ve always erred on the side of continuity, and our takeaway has always been, ‘Let’s see this group healthy.’ I think we’ve seen it enough,” Griffin said. “This is not going to be a summer of complacency. It’s time to get better.”

Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported the Pelicans are most likely to explore trading forward Brandon Ingram, who is heading into the final year of his contract.
