The Golden State Warriors played their first home game at Chase Center since the death of Dejan Milojeviċ, and they honored their former assistant coach before taking the floor against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday.

Head coach Steve Kerr spoke to the crowd as he and the team reflected on Milojeviċ’s life:

Milojeviċ died last week at the age of 46 after a heart attack.

Prior to coaching, he had a 15-year playing career in Europe that included helping lead then-Yugoslavia the 2001 men’s EuroBasket title. He joined the Golden State staff before the 2021-22 campaign.

Warriors games against the Utah Jazz and Dallas Mavericks were postponed following his death.

What’s more, the team announced there will be a “DM” logo on the Chase Center court and a patch on the uniforms to further honor him:

Wednesday was the first of four straight home games for Golden State.
