Video: Suns’ Kevin Durant Passes Shaq for 8th Place on NBA’s All-Time Scoring List

Kevin Durant passed a legend in the NBA record books Wednesday night.

During the Phoenix Suns’ game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Durant officially passed Shaquille O’Neal for eighth place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

O’Neal congratulated Durant on the accomplishment, offering the Suns star praise in a video.

“First of all, I want to say congratulations for passing me to become eighth on the NBA’s all-time scoring list,” O’Neal said. “Well deserved, but you know it doesn’t stop here … See if you can get to No. 1.”

O’Neal scored 28,596 career points in 1,207 games. Durant surpassed that total in 1,047 games and is within striking distance of a few others. Wilt Chamberlain sits in seventh with 31,419 points. LeBron James has the all-time mark with 40,179 points, a number he keeps adding to as an active player.
