Video: Tiger Woods Hopes to Play in Next 3 Majors on PGA Tour Schedule After Masters

After playing all four rounds at the Masters last month, Tiger Woods is planning to play in the remaining majors on the PGA Tour calendar this year.

During an appearance on NBC’s Today (starts at 4:45 mark), Woods said it will “hopefully” work out that he can play the next three majors throughout the summer.

The Masters marked the first time Woods has finished all four rounds at a major tournament since 2022, which was also at Augusta. It was his first time finishing any tournament since the Hero World Challenge in December.

Speaking to reporters prior to the Hero World Challenge, Woods expressed his hope to be able to participate in one event per month during the 2024 season.

“I need to get myself ready for all that. I think this week is a step in that direction,” he said. “I’m just as curious as all of you are to see what happens. … I don’t have any of the pain that I had at Augusta or pre that in my ankle.”

Woods has dealt with injuries throughout his career, but several in recent years that have disrupted his ability to play tournaments consistently. The most significant injury was “comminuted open fractures” to the tibia and fibula in his right leg, as well as damage to his ankle, stemming from a single-car accident in February 2021.

The Genesis Invitational in February 2022 marked Woods’ first tournament back after the accident. He has played in five events since then, with the Masters being his most recent.

Woods had a solid start at the Masters, finishing one-over par through two rounds. He struggled over the weekend to finish plus-16 overall.

If Woods wants to stick to the one-tournament-per-month schedule, the major tournaments line up to help him accomplish that goal. The PGA Championship will take place from May 16-19, followed by the U.S. Open from June 13-16 and Open Championship from July 18-21.

The last non-Masters major that Woods played in was the 2022 Open Championship.
