In a startling development ahead of the national voter registration exercise, executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Savelugu have accused their counterparts from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of engaging in voter registration malpractices.
Our Northern Regional correspondent Abdul Majeed Braimah has more in the following report.
According to the NDC executives, the NPP has been planning to register minors and bringing in strangers from Tamale to register under the Savelugu Constituency. They claim that these actions are aimed at distorting the voter registration process and influencing the electoral outcome in favor of the NPP.
In an interview, the NDC executives expressed their concerns over the alleged actions of the NPP, stating that such practices undermine the integrity of the electoral process. They called on the Electoral Commission to take immediate action to address the situation and ensure that the registration exercise is conducted fairly and transparently.
According to them, a stranger who is the PC for NPP in the Constituency is bringing her follow strangers to register, and for that matter, they NDC will not sit and look at this to happen
In response, the NPP’s constituency Deputy Secretary has denied the allegations, describing them as baseless and politically motivated. They have called on the NDC to provide evidence to support their claims or retract the accusations.
