The Minority in Parliament has called on the police to expedite investigations into Electoral Commission(EC)’s seven missing biometric devices so the 2024 general elections is not to compromised.
The group who fears potential repercussions for the upcoming December general elections, want the police to provide details on its investigations on the issue with immediate effect.

Speaking to journalists in Parliament on Tuesday, March 19, the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, said the missing biometric devices which were meant for registration and verification of voters by the Electoral Commission ahead of its limited voters registration exercise raises concerns.

He therefore urged the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Police Service to expedite action into ascertaining the whereabouts of the seven missing biometric devices.

He said “The Electoral Commission confirms that seven biometric devices are indeed missing. I urge the CID and the Ghana Police Service to immediately issue a statement giving us details of their investigations so far.
