Vikings acquiring OT Cam Robinson from Jaguars in exchange for draft pick compensation Oct 29, 2024

Help on the Minnesota Vikings’ offensive front is en route by way of Duval County.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are trading offensive tackle Cam Robinson to the Vikings in exchange for draft pick compensation, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported on Tuesday. In addition to Robinson, the Vikings will receive a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick, which could disappear based on playing time, while the Jaguars will get a 2026 fifth-round choice that could become a fourth-round pick based on playing time, Rapoport and Pelissero reported.

Acquiring the veteran Robinson fills a massive need for the Vikings, who are without Christian Darrisaw after he suffered a season-ending knee injury in Thursday’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Minnesota is looking to stay afloat in a hotly contested NFC North, having started the season at 5-0 before losing its last two and falling to third in the division. Replacing Darrisaw with Robinson is hardly an even swap, but midway through the season, sufficient offensive line help is hard to find, and the Vikings have brought in an experienced bookend who portends to be a great fit considering all the circumstances, as noted earlier Tuesday by NFL.com’s Kevin Patra.

Robinson, who holds a 69.4 PFF overall grade and has allowed four sacks this season, brings with him 91 career starts since he was selected in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Jaguars.

The 29-year-old Robinson, who is in the final season of his current contract, is the second lineman shipped out by the Jaguars this season after defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris was traded to the Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 14.

For the 2-6 Jaguars, it could be seen as a sign that Jacksonville’s focus has shifted to 2025, but at the same time, Robinson didn’t play in the Jags’ Sunday loss to the Green Bay Packers. He was replaced by Walker Little as the team’s starting left tackle.

For the Vikings, however, it’s a clear indicator that general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is going to do what he can to keep the Vikings’ hopes on high after their recent stumbles. Robinson might well have been the best potential acquisition to aid Minnesota’s offensive line.
