Buddy Hield gave his thoughts on the “Splash Buddies” nickname that fans have created for himself and Stephen Curry as they prepare to team up on the Golden State Warriors next season.

“I don’t see nothing wrong with it but we just gotta take it day by day,” Hield told reporters, per 95.7 The Game.

The 31-year-old was acquired by the Warriors in a sign-and-trade during a six-team deal on July 6. As part of the agreement, Hield received a two-year contract worth $21 million.

Hield averaged 12.1 points and 3.2 rebounds per game with the Indiana Pacers and the Philadelphia 76ers during his 2023-24 campaign. He’s remained one of the league’s most notable volume three-point shooters, hitting 40 percent of his looks from behind the arc on 7.6 long-range attempts each night throughout his career.

He’ll be expected to replace some of the shooting that was lost when Klay Thompson, Curry’s former Splash Brother, was sent to the Dallas Mavericks as part of the sign-and-trade that brought Hield to Golden State.

Following Thompson’s exit, Curry wrote him a goodbye message on his Instagram story that ended with “Splash Bros 4 life my guy.”

While Hield appears to be open to the nickname as he enters his first season with the Warriors, he also wants to earn it on the court alongside the two-time MVP.
