Warriors star Stephen Curry named NBA’s best point guard since 2000

The Golden State Warriors have had their most successful stretch in franchise history thanks to their superstar guard.

There’s no secret that the Warriors aren’t exactly a title favorite going into the 2025-26 season, but no one wants to count them out as long as Stephen Curry is on the roster. Throughout his 16 seasons with the team, Curry has cemented himself as not only the greatest player in Warriors history but one of the greatest players of all time.

With that in mind, there’s no surprise that Curry was a unanimous selection for CBS Sports’ All-Quarter Century First Team, naming the greatest shooter in league history as the NBA’s best point guard since 2000.

No Competition for CurryAs one of four unanimous selections on the first team, Curry’s legacy is unquestioned. Arguably the best point guard in league history, Curry’s individual resume somehow undercuts his greatness.

Sure, he’s led the Warriors to four championships, but with only one Finals MVP, his postseason success is somewhat tainted compared to others on the list. Of course, there still isn’t any debate about whether he earned that spot as the first team point guard.

Curry’s incredible 2015-16 season will forever be looked back on as one of the most impressive single seasons of all time. Winning unanimous MVP while shattering his own record for 3-pointers in a season, Curry also led the Warriors to a league-record 73 wins.

Although Curry’s unanimous selection also has something to do with the overall lack of competition at point guard, Curry’s greatness also ensured that no point guard could compare to him.
