Watch: Bears QB Caleb Williams tosses 31-yard TD after taking brutal hit
Although he kept taking shots in Thursday’s matchup with the Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams still found a way to throw a strike in the third quarter.Â
On a 1st-and-10 at Detroit’s 31-yard line, with the Bears trailing 16-0, Williams stepped up in the pocket and fired a 31-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Keenan Allen. Â
On the previous play, Lions linebacker Jack Campbell blasted Williams. Instead of bracing for contact or running out of bounds, the quarterback appeared more focused on picking up the first down.

According to Bleacher Report and Underdog Fantasy NFL insider James Palmer, Williams (knee) went into the blue medical tent but returned to the game on the next drive.
Williams must learn to slide to avoid big hits, but the Bears must better protect the 2024 No. 1 overall pick. Through his first 11 starts, Williams took 44 sacks, the most in the NFL.
