Watch: Dolphins QB makes inexplicable decision at end of Week 7 loss to Colts

The Miami Dolphins desperately need Tua Tagovailoa back, and there has been no better illustration of that than the way their game against the Indianapolis Colts ended on Sunday.

The Dolphins were trailing 16-10 with 11 seconds left at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. Miami had 4th-and-2 from the Colts’ 33-yard line with no timeouts remaining, so its only options were a quick pass to the sideline or a shot into the end zone. Tim Boyle opted for neither of those.

Boyle, who replaced starter Tyler Huntley after Huntley suffered a shoulder injury in the second half, decided to float a pass toward the sideline. The ball sailed out of bounds and had no chance of being caught.

The play was a reminder of how bad things have gotten for the Dolphins at the quarterback position. Tagovailoa is working his way back from a concussion and could return in Week 8. Skylar Thompson suffered a rib injury after taking over for Tagovailoa last month and Huntley got hurt on Sunday.

The Dolphins are now 2-4 on the season. Their offense has looked completely stagnant since Tagovailoa went down. While there were some calls for Tagovailoa to retire after his latest concussion, the latest update from the Dolphins made it clear that Tua has no plans to hang it up.
