Watch Mikey Musumeci claim inaugural UFC BJJ bantamweight title with heel hook submission

Mikey Musumeci is officially the face of UFC BJJ.

The first grappling athlete ever signed by the UFC, Musumeci has widely been seen to be the face of the promotion’s push into competitive grappling, and on Wednesday night, he solidified that, claiming the inaugural bantamweight title with a submission victory over Rerisson Gabriel at UFC BJJ 1.

Musumeci, known for his high-octane leg attack game, wasted little time getting his attacks going, forcing multiple leg entanglements and attacking with heel hook attempts. Gabriel showed off admirable defense, stymying Musumeci for the first two rounds. However, in the third round, Musumeci was able to lock in a heel hook, and though Gabriel rolled across the mat, he was unable to escape and was forced to tap.
