Watch: Senators’ equipment fiasco causes chaotic goalie change
Equipment mishaps can be an occupational hazard in the NHL, although they are usually remedied so quickly that we don’t pay them too much attention.
This was not the case on Sunday night when the Ottawa Senators had to rotate their goalies twice within six minutes because of equipment issues.

As Russian Machine Never Breaks chronicled, Sens backup netminder Linus Ullmark had to make a second-period entrance when starter Anton Forsberg had an issue with his skate blade.
Ullmark was only between the pipes for 17 seconds — and two saves, for what it’s worth — before Forsberg was ready to return. Ullmark then returned to the crease 1:28 minutes later because Forsberg’s skate continued to be an issue.
Fans at Ball Arena on Sunday night probably weren’t too happy with the game being delayed, but hopefully, those watching at home stayed entertained since the Avalanche play-by-play team had fun with the debacle.

Forsberg went on to give up three third-period goals as Ottawa’s offense found the back of the net four times in the final frame but came up short against Colorado, 5-4.
The Senators moved to 4-4-0 on the season after Sunday’s loss, which was their second straight. Meanwhile, the Avalanche improved to 5-4-0 after losing their first four games of the season.
