Watch: Travis Kelce’s no-look lateral extends Chiefs’ TD drive

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce loves lateraling the football and has no fear of things potentially going wrong.

He proved that again in the second quarter of Friday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders when he hauled in a pass from Patrick Mahomes on a 3rd-and-10 and then almost immediately sent a no-look lateral to running back Samaje Perine to give the Chiefs a first down.

Have a look.

Take another look from a different, closer angle.

That ended up being a huge play because it extended the Chiefs’ drive, eventually producing a Justin Watson touchdown to give them a 10-3 lead late in the second quarter.

Most players in the NFL would not even try a play like that or even think about it, but it has become a regular thing for Kelce over the years. One of his most remembered lateral attempts did not count when he threw the ball across the field to wide receiver Kadarius Toney for what appeared to be a game-winning touchdown against the Buffalo Bills. That play did not count, however, because Toney lined up offsides.

Along with Friday’s play, he has also successfully pulled it off in the past against the Detroit Lions (seen here) and New Orleans Saints (seen here).
