We’re not here to make friends
Irksome. A word that isn’t used very often, the Cambridge dictionary meaning: “annoying or irritating, especially in a formal context.”
The media in every format have tested my patience throughout the summer with their constant sniping at Newcastle United and I do indeed find it very annoying and irritating.
From constant speculation about key Newcastle United players supposedly leaving.
Right through to attempting to suggest disquiet about behind the scenes power plays within the Newcastle United hierarchy, after Amanda Staveley and her husband left with their project management completed.
It really does feel as if the Premier League Septic Six are getting every scribe in the country to chip away at us, the awakening giant, and it is for one simple reason. They’re afraid of the future, as they know that not even the absurd PSR shenanigans will forever hold Newcastle United back, we WILL break up their cosy cartel in the Premier League.
They tried their best to unsettle Bruno, then they turned to rumourmongering about Isak to Arsenal, then the snide attempts at creating a fuss over the England job for wor Eddie, – oh how they would’ve loved it if they had got their wish.
However, they didn’t, and we continue to grow and evolve into a different beast altogether from the mess that the Saudi Arabia PIF inherited a few years back.
My point is, I see the disrespect everywhere and lazy journos are at it all the time, even in MOTD coverage, even when we win we are marginalised, even petty things like giving our result out last on the radio, these little things annoy me, – and don’t start me about the constant use of ‘united’ when talking about Manchester’s reds.
THERE IS ONLY ONE UNITED AND THEY PLAY IN BLACK AND WHITE.
All of these little trivial things should galvanise our club and our support, as wor flags stated a while back, “we’re not here to make friends.”
So called experts have already written us off this year, and in my humble opinion, it is going to be even sweeter when the end of the season comes around and they can scrape off the egg from their faces.
ANY team in the Premier League would struggle with the crippling injury list we had last season, and as for our below par performance against Bournemouth, ANY team missing their two first choice centre halves are going to see a negative effect.
As I write, I expect we will shortly be joined in our ranks by Marc Guehi after a prolonged and seemingly tedious transfer saga, but perhaps we need to look at our squad in a much more positive manner?
The arrival back of Tonali, imminent returns of Schar and Wilson, Botman and Miley in due course, will see a much more robust squad and then, and only then, can we judge our performances in a more meaningful and realistic way, based on a full team and obvious evidence of our true potential.
I truly believe that with a clear run of ‘normal’ injuries we can challenge for top spot, that’s my opinion and I am sticking with it.
Last season we beat Lego man’s digracia outfit, much to his dislike, and most pundits have them as title challengers.
Others will point at the Newcastle United squad v Arsenal’s, but I don’t think we are in their shadow or anyone else’s, including Man City.
It is time to let out a sigh of relief when this blasted transfer window finally closes, lock it up tight and let’s go full whack on the front foot and get into them!
We have exciting times ahead and I hope the Newcastle United squad can reinstate that cohesive collectiveness and prove the ‘experts’ wrong and break up the Premier League Septic Six.
Let’s go!
