“We’re really close friends” – Tottenham Hotspur’s Dominic Solanke names former teammate as his favourite Nigerian footballer
Tottenham Hotspur and England forward, Dominic Solanke has named Atalanta winger, Ademola Lookman as his favourite Nigerian player as he eyes a return to his roots, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 27-year-old enjoyed a brilliant season with Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth, scoring 19 goals and providing three assists in 38 league games last campaign, which in turn saw him earn a move up to Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window.
With four goals in nine games for Ange Postecoglu’s side, Solanke has continued to build on his decent form from last season.
The former Chelsea man, alongside Ademola Lookman have Nigerian roots, and the pair won the FIFA U-20 World Cup together in 2017. While Lookman opted to play for the Super Eagles in 2022, Solanke pitched his tent with the Three Lions of England.

Recently, Solanke opened up about his Nigerian heritage, revealing his plans to visit the West African country soon, whilst claiming Lookman is his favourite Nigerian player at the moment.
“I haven’t actually been there yet. I definitely need to take some time off soon and go and see my roots, so hopefully in the next few years.
My favourite Nigerian footballer currently has to be Ademola Lookman. We are very close friends. What he has been doing over the past few years has been nothing short of phenomenal.
What he has been doing has been crazy, especially for the Nigerian national team so I have been super proud. Another of my favourite Nigerian footballers has to be Victor Osimhen. He has been one of the best in the world,” the former Liverpool striker said in an interview with ShowMax.

Solanke and Tottenham Hotspur face off against Manchester City this weekend, and will hope to compound the woes of the reigning Premier League Champions who have lost their last four games.
