What Is the Pacific Drive Fax Machine: How to Get and Use It
There are many Auto Shop upgrades available in Pacific Drive, including the Fax Machine. Thus here is how to get and use the Pacific Drive Fax Machine
Pacific Drive is a recently released open-world survival game of 2024 developed by Ironwood Studios. It is set in a first-person perspective and the player must fight against metal creatures that latch onto their car, the base of operations, while they complete objectives inside the Zone.Â
To aid with the playerâs journeys inside the Zone, the Auto Shop or Garage used to repair the car can be customized with different upgrades. One such upgrade that has some good uses is the Fax Machine, but what exactly is it? Thus, here is how to get the Pacific Drive Fax Machine and use it properly in the game.

As mentioned before, the Pacific Drive Fax Machine is a type of upgrade that is available for the Auto Shop or Garage. It is a communication device that is used specifically for transmitting short messages. According to the Fabrication Stationâs description of the device, âFaxâ is short for âFrequency Analyzer and X-tractor.â
Other than that, the device is also a place where the files you find inside the Zone are stored, so you can go and look back at them later. Instead of piling up in your inventory, lockers or trunks, the audio or text files that you find inside the Zone will now be stored inside the communication device instead.
It is not a necessary Auto Shop or Garage upgrade when it comes to story progression, rather it is an optional upgrade. Every time you visit the Auto Shop or Garage, you will be alerted with a beep from the device letting you know that new messages or transmissions have arrived for you. These messages are pretty random and are mostly related to the lore, adding more strangeness to the already mysterious ongoings of the Zone.
Over time, going back and reading the messages or transmissions along with the audio or text records from the Zone can help you fill up your Logbook with helpful tips. The machine is particularly helpful for uncovering hidden lore of the game that is otherwise, well, hidden. For this reason, if youâre a fan of lore, make sure to pick up the audio or text records during your drive in the Zone to store them in your Fax Machine.

To get the Pacific Drive Fax Machine, you need to craft it! However, you will first need to unlock it at the Fabrication Station on the Garage tab. It can be found on the downwards route of the Garage tab, just below the Detailing Station and you need to unlock everything before it on the tab to get access to the communication device.Â
As it is an Auto Shop or Garage upgrade, it is also different from other blueprints in the game. This means, unlike other blueprints in the game, you can only learn the recipe once and install it in one fixed place inside the Garage.Â

Other than that, you will also need to have the crafting recipe for the Circuit Board and Craft Mat unlocked. The Circuit Board has to be unlocked at the Fabrication Station on the Refine tab. Here is the recipe for crafting the Circuit Board:
6x Plastic â Can be found in most Civilian locations inside trunks and containers.
2x Copper Wire â Can be collected by using the Scrapper on electrical items or things like TVs, Computers, Radios and Phones.
4x Electronics â Can be collected by using the Scrapper on electrical items or things like TVs, Computers, Radios and Phones.
As for the Craft Mat, it just requires one piece of Fabric to craft it. Fabric can easily be found in most Civilian locations like homes or gas stations. It can be found specifically inside the trunks and containers. The dumpster behind the Auto Shop or Garage is also a good place to scavenge for Fabric.
You also need to have a Stable Energy of 0.3 kLIM to be able to craft the Fax Machine. Here is the recipe for crafting the Pacific Drive Fax Machine:
1x Circuit BoardÂ
20x Plastic
5x Copper Wire
Once youâre done crafting the Fax Machine, pick up the large tube containing the machine. You can then place it in the same side room room which contains the Fabrication Station. It will be installed immediately right around the corner next to your locker storage, basically just outside the door of the side room. Â
How to Use the Pacific Drive Fax Machine
Now that youâre done learning about what the Pacific Drive Fax Machine is and how to get or craft it, you definitely need to know how to use it properly. As mentioned before, the main purpose of the Fax Machine is to hold transmitted messages and records of the files you find inside the Zone.Â
The light on the front of the machine will blink or flash red from time to time and make warning beep noises to remind you that you have new messages or transmissions to look at. When you access the messages, the light will stop flashing until a new message or transmission comes across. To access these records and messages, you simply need to interact with the machine. To do this, just press âEâ on your keyboard, which is the default âInteractâ button and you can read the messages or transmissions.
As for the audio or text record files you find inside the Zone, they will pile up in your inventory and then end up in your lockers or trunks. Instead of that, you can store them inside your fancy fax machine. To do that, just press âEâ on your keyboard, which is the default âInteractâ button and access the machineâs interface. Then, select any file from your inventory, which is indicated by the tape icon and transfer it to the deviceâs memory to access it later.Â
Reading the messages or transmissions and record files is also quite easy. Just interact with the device then click on your desired file or message to enlarge it and read away for tips or some secret hidden lore!
With that, youâre done learning everything that there is to know about the Pacific Drive Fax Machine and what it really is. While it is not a necessary Garage or Auto Shop upgrade, it sure is helpful for learning the lore of the game. Thus, craft your own today and use it!
