When Does Path of Exile 2 Early Access Start and how to get Access
The sequel to the very popular Path of Exile, Path of Exile 2, is finally upon us. The developers have decided to release the game in Early Access before aiming for a full release, but there are still several doubts about it. One of them concerns the Path of Exile 2 Early Access release date.
In this article, therefore, we will tell you everything we currently know about the EA of the game. This way, you can prepare to dive into what has all the credentials to be an adventure that will keep you glued to the screens for a long time.
Update: Delay
Path of Exile has announced on its forum, that the start date for the Early Access period has been delayed. Due to launch on November 15th, PoE 2 Early Access will now slip back to December 6th. For fans worried the game has an issue, however, rest assured, the developers have stated the issue isn’t with the game:
“It turns out that it isn’t the game itself that we are behind on, it’s a bunch of server-side infrastructure work that has taken us a lot longer than we expected.”
Honestly, we like the honesty here. You only get one chance to launch a game, well two if you go into early access first. But it leaves a bad taste if you have a bad start. While dedicated players will stick around, any first time PoE player looking to dip their toes in for PoE 2 might be turned off for good. You can read the full statement from PoE below.
The rest of this article is as it was prior to the delay with the dates now updated
Path of Exile 2 Early Access Release Date
The first knot to untie concerns the release date of Path of Exile 2 in EA. Although this information has been available online for some time now, it is always better to remember it, as there are players who are still confused about it. So, mark your calendars: Path of Exile 2 will be available in EA starting December 6th.
All PC owners, therefore, will have the opportunity to see what the developers have designed for what is the sequel to one of the most successful games of the genre not in a long time. Fans of the first chapter are certainly in trepidation, but there are also many new players who can’t wait to try the adventure that the development team has decided to create.
Is Path of Exile 2 Early Access Paid?
Another of the most important questions to address regarding the release of Path of Exile 2 in EA, is whether it will be free or not. For the moment, there is no very precise news about it; we only know that in order to gain access to the EA of the game you will have to pay to obtain a key. However, we do not know exactly how much the price is.
It should also be considered that the same development team has stated that all those who played the first game and have proven to be “loyal” players, will be able to access the EA without having to purchase any key. Even in this case, however, there is no further information about it. In fact, we do not know exactly how this criterion of “loyalty” is measured by the development team.
To be able to answer this question more precisely, we will have to wait a little longer. The developers, in fact, have confirmed that there will be a livestream soon in which they will give more information on how the EA of Path of Exile 2 works. For now, we know that it will have a similar functioning to that of Fall of Oriath. So, there will be Supporter Packs that can be purchased by players and they will allow you to take part in the EA of the game.
What Does the Path of Exile 2 Early Access Contain?
As for the content itself, the developers have confirmed that the EA of the game will give you the right to watch the first three acts. Let’s remember, in case you didn’t know, that Path of Exile 2 will have a plot that will unfold in six different acts. So, with the EA you will be able to watch half of what is the main plot.
There is no roadmap, at least for now, that illustrates what the path the development team intends to take, so we don’t know exactly when the rest of the content will be added. We don’t know if there will be new additions during the EA or if we will have to wait directly for the full release.
Obviously, as for what was said about the price to get a key for the game, also in this case we will promptly notify you as soon as we have more official information.
