Judd Trump was watched by a raucous crowd of 3,000 fans as he claimed the Shanghai Masters title for the first time on Sunday with an 11-5 win over Shaun Murphy, but the world No. 2 will experience different surroundings when he returns to action against Antoni Kowalski in qualifying for the new Xi’an Grand Prix in Leicester on Saturday. The world No. 2 has been drawn against Poland’s tour newcomer Antoni Kowalski in qualifying for the season’s second ranking event on Saturday afternoon at Leicester’s Mattioli Arena.
While a packed crowd of 3,000 fans watched Trump in action over the weekend, he will be forced to contend with an empty arena with the qualifiers for the Xi’an Grand Prix held behind closed doors.
Qualifying will be staged between Thursday and Saturday in Leicester with the tournament proper getting underway on Monday, August 19 and running until Sunday, August 25 with a first prize of Ā£177,000 on the table.

In other matches, four-time world champion John Higgins faces Alexander Ursenbacher on Thursday afternoon (2:30pm) while Neil Robertson meets Allan Taylor in the evening session (7pm) .
Elsewhere, Luca Brecel takes on Hammad Miah on Friday afternoon with Mark Williams up against Liam Graham on Friday night.
Six-time world finalist Jimmy White confronts Si Jiahui on Saturday afternoon with Murphy meeting Mitchell Mann, and Stephen Maguire and Ken Doherty battling for a last-64 spot.
Ronnie O’Sullivan’s match in the round of 128 against Wang Yuchen has been held over to the finals venue with world champion Kyren Wilson opening his campaign against Haris Tahir.
