He is now back in north London and one of the favourites for glory this year, especially after ‘Cool Hand Luke’ crashed out in the fourth round.
Littler himself survived a scare before Christmas against world No.62 Ryan Meikle to seal a 3-1 victory but became visibly emotional in his post-match interview.
Fortunately for the No.4 seed, he then enjoyed a mini-break before Christmas Day and returned to the oche with another battling win over Ian White in the third round.

Now in the last eight, Littler will look to kick on and improve round-by-round as the other top seeds around him continue to go home early.
The teenage star continues his World Darts Championship campaign against Nathan Aspinall in the quarter-finals.
Aspinall, who shares the same management company as Littler, made it through after demolishing Riccardo Pietreczko 4-0.
Littler vs Aspinall will take place on Wednesday, January 1 and in the evening session.
The match is set to get underway at 9pm.
The winner of the tie will then face either Peter Wright or Stephen Bunting in the semi-finals on Tuesday.
