‘Where does that guy go?’… Brendan Loughnane offers advice to unbeaten fighter that Dana White told would be ‘decimated in UFC’ after DWCS win

Brendan Loughnane feels that Torrez Finney should give up on chasing the UFC after being ripped by Dana White on Tuesday night.

The featherweight star has become one of the PFL’s biggest names since signing after being rejected in a similar manner following his own win against Bill Algeo on the Contender Series. He has become a millionaire and world champion since his 2019 snub and is one of the faces of the company.

And he believes that Finney should give up the ghost after two wins on the show have resulted in a lack of contract with UFC. The Brit is currently just two wins away from his second $1million championship, starting with a playoff against Kai Kamaka III tomorrow night in Washington.

Who is Dana White? All you need to know about the CEO and President of the UFCDana White told Torrez Finney he would be ‘decimated in the UFC’Torrez Finney made his second appearance on the Dana White Contender Series this week, defeating Cam Rowston in his highly-publicised bout. He overcame a massive size difference to take the win, and pleaded after the fact with the UFC boss to give him a chance.

However, White was unimpressed with his victory, denying the contract and telling him after the fact: “Finney, now you were here last year and my recommendation to you was to go out and get some experience.

“Your performance last year was better than this performance. You’re 25 years old, kid, you’re obviously a talented athlete go out and get three or four fights this year, then come back to us and talk about the UFC.”

Brendan Loughnane questions Torrez Finney’s future after being ripped by Dana WhiteFollowing Dana White’s explosive rant towards Torrez Finney, a clear comparison emerged between the Tennessee native and Brendan Loughnane. The Brit infamously shot for a takedown in his Contender Series fight with Bill Algeo in 2019, which saw him secure a decision victory.

White was highly critical, however, of his method of victory and opted no to offer him a contract with the promotion. Instead, Loughnane moved over to PFL where he became the 2022 world champion and is now one of the biggest names outside of the sport’s biggest promotion.

Photo by Cooper Neill/Getty ImagesAsked by Bloody Elbow if he had seen Finney’s incident, Loughnane replied: “I’ve seen something, but I didn’t really get into it like that. Two fights? What’s the point at that point? Where does that guy go? Ahh, no comment on all of that.

“What’s that guy doing coming back twice? Is he going again? What’s the plan for that fella? At some point you have to move on.”

Brendan Loughnane details his success since joining PFL following Dana White snubIronically, Loughnane’s opponent on the night’ Bill Algeo, ended up in the UFC and has fought ten times, going 5-5 in the promotion. Meanwhile, the Brit has become a world champion, fought around the world and made a massive seven-figure amount in his many fights.

“The whole Contender Series thing, at the time I thought it was the worst thing that’s ever happened to me,” Loughnane continued. “Turns out now it was actually the best thing that’s ever happened to me, I mean, I’ve made a fortune, an absolute fortune.

“I’ve won a world title at Madison Square Garden, I’ve changed my family’s life, at the time I was like ‘wow, where do I go from here? PFL wasn’t even a thing then, it was just starting and it was like ‘where do you go?’

“But I’ve found a home, me and the company have worked together. I’m ever grateful to this place, what an amazing place to fight.”
