Where to watch Inter Miami vs. Tigres live stream, TV channel, rosters, prediction for Leagues Cup group match

Defending Leagues Cup title-holders Inter Miami look to secure a spot in the knockout stage as they meet Mexican side Tigres in the group stage on Saturday.

The Herons collected all three points in their group opener against Puebla last weekend at home, but now have to hit the road to meet “home” side Tigres in Houston.

Tigres have won three of their first four league games in the young Liga MX Apertura campaign, yet to taste defeat in a strong start. Ageless striker Andre-Pierre Gignac continues to trouble back lines and could be a danger for the wounded Inter Miami back line.

With Lionel Messi’s fitness unclear, Inter Miami effort to put themselves in the knockout round in a run of strong form.

Inter Miami vs. Tigres lineups & team newsThe fitness of Lionel Messi remains in question, but it feels unlikely that he will participate in this match. He suffered a nasty ankle injury in the Copa America final and missed Inter Miami’s first Leagues Cup match while still in a walking boot. Luis Suarez was a doubt for the opener against Puebla due to chronic knee pain but started and played nearly the full match.

Midfielders Federico Redondo, Benji Cramaschi, and Diego Gomez are all on Olympic duty with their national teams, and will not be available.

Injuries have struck the back line, as Nicolas Freire tore his ACL and Serhiy Kryvtsov is dealing with a knee injury as well. It forced them to sign Hector Martinez from River Plate on loan, and he started the opener against Puebla.

Inter Miami projected starting lineup (4-3-3): Callender (GK) — Weigandt, Busquets, Martinez, Alba — Rojas, Bright, D. Ruiz — Gressel, Suarez, Taylor.

Tigres are anchored up front by French striker Andre-Pierre Gignac who at 38 years old has become a club legend after nearly a decade with the side and continues to prove dangerous up front.

Midfielder David Ayala is dealing with a knee injury and his participation is unlikely, yet to play a match in the young season thus far after missing all of last year with an ACL tear.

Tigres projected starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Tapia (GK) — Aquino, Pizarro, D. Reyes, Garza — Gorriaran, Carioca — Flores, Vigon, Cordova — Gignac.

Inter Miami vs. Tigres prediction, betting odds & linesScore prediction: Inter Miami 2-1 TigresInter Miami topped Puebla 2-0 in their opening match with a number of backups and new signings in. While Tigres represent a decently significant step up in competition, Liga MX clubs have historically struggled in the Leagues Cup due to excessive travel and other factors rooted in the trip through the United States.

Whether Lionel Messi plays or not, Inter Miami should have the upper hand in this match, even with all their absences.
