Why the Saints should look at drafting Texas Tech running back Tahj Brooks

Don’t panic when it comes to the running back position in this year’s draft, because it is backloaded with talent. If the New Orleans Saints fail to land Boise State back Ashton Jeanty, there are many other prospects the Saints could take.

Tahj Brooks, a running back out of Texas Tech University, could be one of those candidates.

According to the school’s website, Brooks, a fifth-year senior, is the university’s all-time leading rusher, with 4,557 yards in 56 games. Additional career accolades include being named second-team all-Big 12 in 2024, a 2024 academic All-American, four-time academic all-Big 12, a two-time Doak Walker Award semi-finalist, and twice a semi-finalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award.

“I feel like NFL teams should know that I can be an every-down back and that I can do good things out in the backfield,” Brooks said on the Up and Adams show. “When I’m hot, I’m hot.”

Over his five seasons with the Red Raiders, Brooks has also accumulated 45 rushing touchdowns and 103 receptions with two touchdowns. As of right now, he is projected to be selected on Day 3.
