Will There Be Co-Op Features in Rise of the Ronin?
Rise of the Ronin, the highly anticipated PS5 exclusive from Team Ninja, promises an immersive co-op experience set in Bakumatsu-era Japan.
Team Ninjaâs upcoming Action-Adventure RPG Rise of the Ronin is one of the most anticipated games of 2024. Set in the Bakumatsu era, you step into the Tabi of a masterless samurai, a Ronin, as you fight to reshape Japanâs history with your trusty Katana. Itâs got a pretty sweet backdrop that promises to transport you to the land of the rising sun.
And if Team Ninjaâs past classics, such as the Ninja Gaiden series, Nioh, and even the recent Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, can serve as an indication, we can expect plenty of over-the-top combat mechanics in this upcoming PS5 exclusive.
As if that wasnât enough, the devs have also confirmed that this game will feature a fully fleshed-out co-op system. So youâre not playing as just a lone masterless samurai; youâll also be able to call in your friends when things turn south.

Is There Co-Op in Rise of the Ronin?
While there was no official news of co-op or multiplayer options when Rise of the Ronin was first revealed, as we get closer to the launch date, developers are releasing a lot of new information. And among them, the thing that caught most playersâ attention is that Rise of the Ronin will feature an online Co-op mode.
In the PlayStation Store page of the game, thereâs a new FAQ section where the devs said that the game will be able to join up to three other players to play the main story missions of the game together.
Whether that means the open-world exploration is single-player only, we donât know that yet. Another important thing to note is that since Rise of the Ronin is a PlayStation exclusive, the players need to have an active PS Plus subscription on their account to experience the multiplayer options in the game.
Furthermore, the devs stated that the game will not feature any PVP mode which means if you wanted something akin to multiplayer options in souls-like games such as Dark Souls or Elden Ring, youâre out of luck. You wonât be able to challenge your friends or Invade online to fight other players in the open-world of Rise of the Ronin.
Still, the fact that a game of this caliber is coming out with an online co-op option is great news. Even though youâre playing as a masterless samurai, you donât have to go through the experience alone.
