WILLOW Issues Self-Directed “run!” Music Video
Willow Smith, who performs under the stage name WILLOW, has released a new music video from her latest project. The self-directed clip for “run!” comes from the empathogen album, issued earlier this year.
The visual finds the 23-year-old making a daring escape from behind bars. Additionally, Grammy nominated duo DOMi and JD BECK appear in the “run!” music video.
“I’m trying so hard to be in the moment and see their sincerity and not let my toxic mental pattern paint them as this person who’s trying to attack me or judge me,” she detailed of the song’s lyrics to Rolling Stone. “There’s almost a sadness to it because it’s like I wasn’t strong enough to stay in the moment and see this person for who they really were, and I just ran from the situation.”

Empathogen was released on May 3, 2024, and features Jon Batiste and St. Vincent across 12 tracks.
“I think I’m in a place right now in my life where I’m realizing that there’s no destination, there’s only choices every day that we make that bring us through our lives. I want to make the decision every day to be more compassionate, to be more honest, to practice my instrument with deep presence and treat it as a spiritual experience,” the “symptom of life” performer explained to Pop Sugar.
“This album is an expression of me coming to that understanding.”
