Wolves v Liverpool: Predicted Reds XI for clash
Liverpool return to Premier League action when they face Wolves in Saturdayâs late kick-off.Â
Arne Slot has enjoyed an impressive start to his tenure at Anfield, winning four of his five league games in charge as well as overseeing victories in both the Champions League and Carabao Cup.
Victory against Wolves could move the Reds top of the standings, depending on other results.
Here, we predict the XI that Slot will select for the trip to Molineux.
Goalkeeper
Alisson missed Liverpoolâs win over Bournemouth last weekend and was also absent for the convincing 5-1 victory over West Ham United in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. Caoimhin Kelleher impressed in the Brazilianâs absence, but Alisson is set to return to the starting XI against Wolves.
Defenders
Trent Alexander-Arnold registered his first goal involvement of the new Premier League season against the Cherries last weekend, providing the assist for one of Luis Diazâ goals. The England international will be hoping to add to his tally on Saturday, and he is set to start at right-back.
In the centre of defence, Ibrahima Konate is set to partner captain Virgil van Dijk. The pair have started Liverpoolâs last four league games together, and they will fancy their chances of keeping Wolvesâ struggling attack at bay.
Van Dijk will captain Liverpool against Wolves on Saturday
Andy Robertson is set to start at left-back. The Scot recently made his 300th appearance for Liverpool and, although he has just 18 months remaining on his contract, he remains a key part of Slotâs side.
Midfielders
Ryan Gravenberch could start at the base of midfield. The Dutchman has played every minute of the Redsâ league campaign so far this term, after failing to establish himself as a regular starter last term.
Mac Allister is in line to start on Saturday
He will likely be joined by Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. Like Gravenberch, the pair joined Liverpool last summer as part of a midfield overhaul overseen by then-manager Jurgen Klopp.
Forwards
On the right, Mohamed Salah is almost certain to start. The Egyptian scored his 215th goal for the Reds in midweek against the Hammers, and he will be confident of adding to that tally at Molineux.
Salah has scored 215 goals for Liverpool
Through the middle, Darwin Nunez is likely to be given the nod after scoring is first goal of the season against Bournemouth last weekend. The Uruguay international could start ahead of Diogo Jota, who netted twice against West Ham.
Luis Diaz â one of the star players of the season so far â is set to start on the left flank. The Colombia international has scored five times in the league already this season, netting braces against both Manchester United and Bournemouth.
Predicted XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai; Salah, Nunez, Diaz.Â
