Littler was knocked out in the First Round on Monday nightCredit: GettyWorld Grand Prix Darts 2024: Format explainedAs mentioned, this tournament is unique and that is because it’s the only event that enforces a double start.

This means players must both start and finish on a double or bullseye – something that Pietreczko let slip from his mind.

A player will only start scoring points in a leg once they have hit a double, with the points from that double counting as their first scoring dart.

It is a knockout tournament, with one defeat meaning a player will be eliminated.

Each game is contested over the best of three legs in the First Round, best of five sets in the Second Round and quarter-finals, seven sets in the Semis and nine in the Final.

Rob Cross wins only his third game at the World Grand Prix, as he beats the tournament favourite Luke Littler 2-1 in sets to secure his place in round two
